Terms of Service

Last updated 11 September 2026

1. Who we are

Praetonix is a security industry network operated by Praetorian Security Group, serving the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. By creating an account you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or over. Security professionals must hold a valid SIA licence (UK) or PSA licence (Republic of Ireland) where the work requires one, and must keep licence details accurate on their profile. Employers must be a genuine business or hiring entity.

3. Membership and payments

Membership is billed monthly in advance. United Kingdom: £1 per month Professional, £5 per month Business. Republic of Ireland: €1.20 per month Professional, €6 per month Business. The price shown is the total charged; no tax is added at checkout.

Payments are processed by our payment provider. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period. We do not provide refunds for partial months unless required by law. Nothing here affects your statutory rights.

4. Membership Prices and Advance Notice

Praetonix may increase membership prices to reflect inflation-related increases in the reasonable costs of operating and maintaining the service.

If your membership price is increasing, we will email you at least one calendar month before the first payment at the higher rate. The email will explain the reason, your current price, the new total price, the date it takes effect and how to cancel.

You may cancel before that payment date without a cancellation penalty, with access continuing until the end of your existing paid period.

If you do not cancel, your subscription will continue at the notified rate where permitted by your agreement and applicable law. If express consent is required, we will obtain it first.

We will not apply an increase to a period already paid for or override a fixed-price commitment. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

We only describe an increase as inflation-related where that is genuinely the reason. We do not link membership prices automatically to any published index.

5. Photographs and uploaded content

You may only upload photographs, documents and other content where you:

  • own the content, or have permission from the owner to use it;
  • have a lawful basis and any necessary permission before uploading another person's image or personal information;
  • use an accurate, current and non-misleading photograph where the photo is intended to identify you;
  • do not upload unlawful, abusive, discriminatory, sexually explicit or threatening material;
  • do not impersonate anyone, and do not upload stolen photographs, forged documents or misleading qualifications;
  • keep private information — home addresses, bank details, other people's documents — out of photographs that other members can see.

You keep ownership of everything you upload. You give Praetonix only the limited permission we need to store, process and display your content to the audience you have chosen and to operate, secure and support the service. We do not claim ownership of your content and we will not use your photographs in advertising or marketing without asking you first.

We may restrict, hide or remove content that breaches these rules, and may suspend the account responsible. You can report content from the report option on a profile, post or message, and you can ask us to review any decision we make about your own content by opening a support request.

6. Licence details, qualifications and what we check

You are responsible for making sure the licence, qualification and experience information on your profile is accurate and current. You must update it promptly if a licence expires or is suspended, revoked, varied or replaced, and you must not hold yourself out as eligible for work you are not licensed or qualified to carry out.

Please be clear about the difference between:

  • Member-supplied information — licence numbers, expiry dates, qualifications, experience and uploaded documents entered by the member. Praetonix displays this as supplied and does not confirm it with the SIA or PSA.
  • Checks Praetonix performs — we check that a profile is complete, that expiry dates entered have not passed, and we act on reports and evidence of inaccuracy. We do not run live licence-register lookups, identity checks, right-to-work checks or criminal record checks.
  • Manual Close Protection approval — a separate review described in section 7.

We do not describe ordinary SIA or PSA details as "Praetonix verified". Only accounts that have been through the Close Protection review in section 7 are shown as verified, and that label refers to that review alone.

7. Close Protection verification

Close Protection operatives must be approved manually by a Praetonix administrator before they receive Close Protection access and the verified marker. Uploading a licence or any other document does not by itself verify an account, and an application stays private and pending until a decision is made.

The review checks the application submitted to us: that a Close Protection licence number and expiry date have been provided and are not expired, that supporting documents are legible and consistent with the details given, that the stated experience and qualifications are set out, and that we hold no adverse reports about the account.

Approval is not a guarantee of a person's future conduct, of continuing licence validity, or of suitability for any particular assignment, and it is not an endorsement, accreditation or approval by the SIA, the PSA or any other authority.

We may review, pause or withdraw verification at any time — for example where a licence expires or changes, where information turns out to be inaccurate, or where we receive a substantiated report. We will tell the member and they may ask us to reconsider.

8. Employers and security businesses

Employers and security businesses remain responsible for their own recruitment checks, including confirming current licence validity with the SIA or PSA, identity, qualifications, right to work and general suitability where the role requires it. A Praetonix profile, badge or approval does not replace any check required for a particular role, and does not transfer that responsibility to us.

Information reached through Praetonix may only be used for genuine recruitment or contract purposes. Copying, publishing, selling, sharing or otherwise redistributing licence documents, CVs or members' personal information outside that purpose is not permitted and may also breach data protection law. Businesses handling that information act as data controllers in their own right.

Nothing in this section removes any legal responsibility that Praetonix itself has.

9. Privacy and who can see what

Access to member information is controlled by the platform, not just by this policy:

  • Ordinary members and regional community chats — see the community profile only: profile photo, name or chosen nickname, general work role and region.
  • Never shown in public or ordinary community profiles — licence numbers, licence documents, CVs, verification submissions, date of birth, address, phone number and email.
  • Authorised employers and security businesses — approved business accounts can see relevant professional and licence information for legitimate recruitment, and can see the CV of a member who has applied to their role.
  • Close Protection information — subject to further restrictions and shared with approved business accounts only.
  • Praetonix administrators — may access member records where needed to operate the service, investigate reports and meet legal obligations. That access is logged.

Uploaded documents are private by default. They are stored in private storage, are not published at any public web address, and are opened through short-lived links issued only to people authorised to view them. Where content is removed or access is withdrawn, existing links stop working.

10. Jobs, tenders and training

Praetonix is a listing and networking platform. We do not guarantee employment, interviews, shifts or earnings; we do not guarantee that a tender will be awarded or that a business will respond; we do not check the accuracy of every member-submitted listing; and we do not confirm a training provider's accreditation unless we say we have checked it.

The member or business that publishes a listing, tender or course is the provider of that service, and any resulting contract is between them and you. Praetonix is not the employer, the client or a party to that contract, except for the Praetonix membership itself, which is between you and Praetorian Security Group. This section does not exclude any responsibility we cannot lawfully exclude.

11. Community and SOS

Posts in regional communities are the views of the members who write them, not of Praetonix. They are subject to our conduct rules, moderation and reporting.

SOS is not an emergency service. In an emergency call 999 or 112. SOS alerts nearby Praetonix members who have the feature available and depends on your phone, its location settings and a working internet connection. We do not monitor SOS alerts continuously, and we cannot guarantee that an alert will be delivered, seen or answered.

12. Conduct

No harassment, discrimination, fraudulent listings, impersonation, or sharing another member's personal data. We may suspend or remove accounts, listings and content that breach these terms.

13. Membership suspension, removal and refunds

Praetonix management may suspend or terminate a member's account where there are reasonable grounds, including serious or repeated breaches of our Terms or Community Rules, harassment, threats, fraud, impersonation, misuse of personal information, unlawful activity or conduct that puts others or the platform's security at risk.

We may suspend access immediately where necessary to protect users, investigate suspected misconduct or comply with legal obligations. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give the member an opportunity to respond or request a review.

Where membership is terminated for a substantiated serious breach, a refund is not automatic. Any amount retained must be lawful, fair and proportionate, taking account of services already supplied and any demonstrable direct loss caused by the breach. We will refund amounts that we are legally required to return.

If we end a paid membership for our own business reasons, without a breach by the member, we will refund the unused prepaid period.

Termination will stop future membership renewals. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits your statutory consumer rights, including applicable cancellation and refund rights.

To ask us to review a suspension or removal, open a support request from your account and choose "Account review". We will respond in writing.

14. Liability

We provide the platform with reasonable care and skill. To the extent permitted by law, Praetorian Security Group is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the network, or from engagements arranged between members. We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

15. Changes and contact

We may update these terms and will post the revised date above. Where a change materially affects members we will give notice in the app and, where required, ask you to accept the new version; you may cancel instead. Questions can be sent through the contact page.

These terms describe how Praetonix currently works. They have been prepared for review and have not been approved by a solicitor.
